Hey Richards, great question—and I hear this one a lot!

The short answer is: absolutely yes, the Rescue course is incredibly valuable, even if you never plan to go pro.

It’s not just about rescuing others—it’s really about becoming a more confident, aware, and capable diver. You’ll learn advanced self-help skills, how to prevent problems before they start, and what to do when something does go wrong—whether it’s with you or someone else.

That does sound useful… but I’m just not sure if I’m ready for something that intense.

Totally understandable. If you want to ease into it, you might want to consider our Better Buddy course.

It’s actually the first part of the full Rescue course, and it focuses more on developing your own skills—like awareness, situational control, and handling minor issues underwater. It’s a great way to build confidence and improve your dive abilities, without jumping straight into full-on rescue scenarios.

That sounds like a good middle ground. And I can decide later if I want to keep going?

Exactly! After the Better Buddy course, if you’re feeling good and want to continue, you can upgrade to the full Rescue Diver course. But even on its own, Better Buddy gives you tools that make you a stronger, safer, and more prepared diver.

So whether you’re diving with friends, on vacation, or just exploring, both courses offer a lot—not just for professionals, but for anyone who takes their diving seriously.

Thanks. I think I’ll start with Better Buddy and see how I go!
